Glencoe Law Office Celebrates Grand Opening

October 31, 2011

821 11th Street East; Glencoe, MN 55336

Congratulations to Scott Nokes and Mike Redden for the grand opening of Glencoe Law Office on Friday, October 28th in the former Oriel Theatre building in downtown Glencoe.

When asked why they choose Glencoe, Nokes stated that the physical location, directly across from the McLeod County Courthouse, is a prime location. Being “county seat” attorneys is a significant advantage, because it is quite easy to make appearances in court or file paperwork without dealing with the inconvenient windshield time of being located in another community.

Glencoe Law Office is a general practice law firm, and handles most matters with the exceptions of Social Security disability, workers compensation, and medical malpractice (although they have referrals for those). Their normal hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. They also make appointments in the evenings and on weekends by appointment.

The former Oriel Theatre has been completely renovated. Some of the renovations include: a new roof, foundation repairs, new plumbing and electrical service, new windows, new mechanical systems, painting, concrete, and brick seal-coating.

Delta Fabricating Named Glencoe’s Manufacturing Firm of the Year

GLENCOE, MN – October 28, 2011 – As part of Minnesota’s Manufacturing Week October 24-28, the Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual manufacturing breakfast at Delta Fabricating on Thursday, October 27. This event was an opportunity to recognize Delta Fabricating for their contributions to the community, while raising awareness on the impact that manufacturing has on the local economy.

Chamber of Commerce President, Dan Ehrke, started the event off by announcing that “manufacturing is growing in Glencoe”. He sited several recent examples of local firms, including Delta Fabricating, Starkey Laboratories, and Miller Manufacturing, expanding during the past 15 months adding key investments and jobs to the community. Mr. Ehrke also mentioned that this growth includes two new companies, Midwest Porcine Recovery and Miromatrix Medical, relocating to Glencoe’s Industrial Park.

As part of the ceremonies, Mr. Ehrke presented a plaque to Mike Schiller, Delta Fabricating’s Vice-President, announcing the company as Glencoe’s Manufacturing Firm of the Year. Glencoe’s Mayor, Randy Wilson, also presented a proclamation proclaiming October 27, 2011 as Delta Fabricating Day in the City of Glencoe, recognizing the company for its twenty-five years of business.

Paul Moe, Deputy Commissioner with the Department of Employment and Economic Development for the State of Minnesota, also marked the occasion by speaking to the significant impact that Delta Fabricating and other local manufacturing companies have on the State’s economy. Mr. Moe concluded his remarks by presenting Delta Fabricating a certificate of commendation from Governor Mark Dayton for their accomplishments.

Owned by the Lakeland Companies, Delta Fabricating has been operating in Glencoe since 1986 with a current workforce of twenty-nine employees. Mr. Schiller stated that employee turnover is extremely low with over 60% of their employees being employed ten or more years. The company’s facility includes approximately 44,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 12,250 square feet of warehouse space. The company manufactures industrial electrical enclosures for packaging, food processing, and industrial machines.

In 2011, Delta Fabricating completed equipment and facility improvements in excess of $700,000.00, which was highlighted in the tour that concluded the event. The Board of Directors for the Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Delta Fabricating for being recognized as Glencoe’s 2011 Manufacturing Firm of the Year.

Appointment Occurs As Miromatrix Prepares to Open New Glencoe-Based Lab

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – October 19, 2011 – Miromatrix Medical Inc., a regenerative medicine company engaged in the development of commercial products based upon its perfusion decellularization/recellularization technology licensed from the University of Minnesota, announced today that Timothy Pawlenty has joined its Board of Directors.

The Miromatrix Medical technology has the potential to enable the creation of fully biological replacement organs for the human body. In addition to the Company’s internal efforts focused on the development of its first product – a biomesh for hernia repair and breast reconstruction – scientists around the globe are working with the Company’s technology and are taking the first steps toward the creation of human organs including the liver, lung, kidney, pancreas and heart.

Miromatrix has enjoyed significant support and cooperation from both the State of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota. The Town of Glencoe recently joined this list of supporters by attracting the Company to its industrial park, where Miromatrix will move into a new laboratory constructed to its specifications within the facility of one of its primary suppliers.

Following his election to the Miromatrix Board of Directors on October 17th, Governor Pawlenty said, “I am extremely excited to join the board of a company that has the potential to improve human health in an historic way within its reach. In my view, Miromatrix likely will be Minnesota’s next medical and business miracle.”

“We are thrilled to have someone of Governor Pawlenty’s caliber join our Board of Directors,” said Robert Cohen, President & CEO. “We look forward to his advice and counsel as we pursue commercial products and strategic relationships with our game-changing technology.”

“Lynette gives 110 percent to her job,” said Pam Gould, RN, director of long-term care nursing, Glencoe Regional Health Services. “She is a motivator who challenges and empowers her nursing staff to be the best they can be. Her leadership has greatly contributed to the quality of care that has earned GRHS a five-star rating in Medicare’s Nursing Home Compare program.”

In presenting the award, the March of Dimes noted that Froehlich “developed an outstanding wound care program that has earned her the respect of her entire facility, and, in two instances, helped prevent the need for amputation.” Froehlich also plays a leadership role on GRHS’ infection control, emergency preparedness, and process improvement teams, and is a member of the medical reserve corps for the Sibley County Emergency Response Team.

“I am very honored to be recognized for the work that I truly love to do,” said Froehlich. “I work with a great team of nurses and doctors, who have always supported me and encouraged me to grow and try new things. I try to pass that same support on to my staff and nursing students.”

Froehlich joined GRHS Long Term Care in 2003 after serving as director of nursing at the former Gaylord community hospital, administrator at Arlington Municipal Hospital, director of nursing at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson and intensive care nurse at New Ulm Medical Center. Froehlich is certified by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.

In addition to her work at GRHS Long Term Care, Froehlich teaches in the nurses’ aid program at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson. Froehlich lives in Winthrop with her husband, Bruce. Together they have four children and two grandchildren.
