ELECTRICAL – The Glencoe Light and Power Commission has been serving Glencoe businesses with reliable energy for over seventy years. Their system is capable of generating the community’s entire electric load using their own generation in emergency situations.
Glencoe offers Green Energy advantages through the Glencoe Light & Power Commission. The community receives a significant amount of their energy from the Spruce Ridge Methane Gas Plant operated by Waste Management. During the month of January 2011, 37% of the energy consumed by the commission’s customers came from the Spruce Ridge facility. The commission is already exceeding the State of Minnesota’s mandate for producing 25% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025.
