Glencoe’s Well Head Protection: Get FREE water-saving items for your home
The City of Glencoe has a Well Head Protection Plan (WHPP) in place with the State of Minnesota. As a community, we need to steadily work on saving water to reduce how much water we draw from our public water supply wells.
There is a really easy way for you to be a part of this effort. The City of Glencoe is partnering with CenterPoint Energy on their Do-It-Yourself program. You can order free water-saving items for your home through this program. You can choose from four showerhead styles and two faucet aerator styles. A faucet aerator is the piece at the very end of kitchen and bathroom faucets where the water comes out.
These water-saving items are very easy to install yourself. Simply unscrew your current showerhead or faucet aerator and screw on the new one (with a little plumbing Teflon tape, if needed). Changing out one showerhead and one faucet aerator can help you save 3,100 gallons of water each year at your home. That’s about 86 bathtubs of water!
For more information visit CenterPoint Energy’s website or call 320-207-2284 to place an order for water-saving items (and other energy-saving items) and have them shipped to your home for free. Have your CenterPoint Energy account number ready.
